Alice Brauninger

Alice Brauninger, age 82 of Osakis passed away early Monday, July 10, 2006 at the St. Anthony Care Center in St. Anthony, MN.
Alice Elsie Masteller was born on January 18, 1924 in Osakis township, Douglas County, MN to Fred and Carrie (DeBord) Masteller. Alice was united in marriage to LaVerne Brauninger on June 18, 1942 in Menahga, MN. They farmed between Westport and Villard, MN for many years and then in 1967 moved to California. While there, Alice worked for Butler Data Systems. When they returned to Minnesota four years later, Alice went to work at the Fingerhut Company in Sauk Centre. In 1984 the Brauningers moved to a home in Osakis and then after LaVerne's death, Alice moved to Columbia Heights, MN. Alice belonged to the United Methodist Church in Osakis.
Alice had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed working with her hands and created many beautiful macrame projects. Each fall she looked forward to going deer hunting with her family and she kept busy during the summer months working in her garden or getting out to wet a line fishing. Alice was a kind and generous mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LaVerne in 1987, two sons, James and Leslie Brauninger, 5 brothers, Richard, Henry, George and Ralph Masteller and Raymond Mastellar, one sister, Susan Koppen.
Alice is survived by her children, Robert (Julie) Brauninger of Bartlett, Tennessee and Nancy (James) King of Columbia Heights, MN; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Olson of Westport, MN; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Alice were held on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Osakis with Rev. Mark Bateson officiating. Music was provided by organist, Janet Sampson. After the interment at the Lakeside Cemetery in Osakis, lunch was served in the fellowship hall and was provided by the United Methodist Church Women.
