Alice Corine Van Nurden

Alice Corine Mayes Van Nurden, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Osakis, Minnesota on May 18, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 6, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, Alice was the daughter of William Ernest and Anna Corine (Smith) May.

Alice married William Aciel Van Nurden on December 20, 1952, in Highland Park, Illinois. The couple later made their home in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, where they dedicated themselves to raising their six children: Gregory, Connie, Bonnie, Susan, Julia, and Nichole. A nurturing and caring mother, she placed the needs of her family above her own, always offering love and support. Alice was not only a devoted mother but also a friend to many, noted for her kindness, fairness, and warmth.

Alice had a passion for cooking that brought her family together, and her love for flowers and gardening filled her life with beauty. She also enjoyed playing cards and solving word searches. Her infectious smile and enduring kindness touched the hearts of those around her. Always putting her family first, Alice’s generous spirit and unwavering support made her the heart of the family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Alice is survived by her children, Gregory William (Debby) Van Nurden, Connie Jean Steinke, Bonnie Kay (Bruce) Petersen, Susan Corine Iliff, Julia Ann (Rollin) Morrisette and Nichole Dee (Kevin Milender) Van Nurden; 13 grandchildren, William (Jaime) Van Nurden, Kasey Barrera, Jamie (Phillip) Eckels, Tyana (Craig) Pangburn, Ryan (Amanda) Petersen, Kori Corine (Randy) Lee, Kandis Kuttney, Jessie (Heather) Iliff, Rochelle Missouri, Nicole Morrisette, Mattheau (Tori) Morrisette, Cassidy Milender, and Gavin Milender; 16 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters and 1 great-great grandson ; siblings, Louise Decent, Deloris Sue Arellano,and Joe May.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William (Ace) Van Nurden, great-son, Brody Arnold Kutney and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.
