Allen M. Kulzer, age 80 of Sauk Centre, MN died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at his residence in Sauk Centre, MN.
Allen Michael Kulzer was born on May 13, 1929 in Spring Hill, MN to Roman C. and Adelinde (Terhaar) Kulzer. He spent his early years helping on the family farm south of Sauk Centre. On August 25, 1953 Allen was united in marriage to Regine Minette at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. They farmed south of Sauk Centre and raised fifteen children. Regine passed away January 31, 1986. Allen continued farming and on May 26, 1989 was married to Patricia Ziska-Schmidt at St. Augustine Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN. Patricia passed away on July 10, 1995.
Allen was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre and belonged to the Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph's Society. He had been an active member and past chairman of the MN Farmers Union in Sauk Centre. Allen also served as chairman of the Stearns County NFO and on the Getty Township and Zoning board.
Some of his hobbies included working in his welding shop, tinkering on projects in the yard, reading and being a kind and loving grandpa to his many grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Sharon (Randy) Skalitzky of Waterloo, WI, Ginny Lyon of Sauk Centre, Theresa Slifka of El Cajon, CA,Marlene (Brad)Snyder of Menahga, Mike (Pat) Kulzer of Sauk Centre, Patty Waldvogel of Melrose, Joe (Jean) Kulzer of Menomonie, WI, Dee Dee (Randy) Wiener of Cold Spring, Helen Lawinger of Sauk Centre, Mary (Mike) Holler of Big Lake, Marcy (Gordon) Taylor of Farmington, Dan Kulzer of Chippewa Falls, WI, Bob (Hollie) Kulzer of Osakis, Jerry (Tina) Kulzer of Sauk Centre, Kevin Kulzer of Reisterstown, MD; 31 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Roman M. (Mary) Kulzer of Sauk Centre, David (Karen) Kulzer of Rochester, Sr. Mary Blase Kulzer, OSF of Little Falls, Elsie Bromenshenkel and Janet Kulzer, both of Sauk Centre, Annella (Alois) Clasemann of Hermantown, Marina (George) Blackwood of Flower Mound, TX, Kathleen Angus of Wadena; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wives, Regine and Patricia, 3 grandchildren, Bill Slifka, Mark Lyon and Michael Koep Kulzer;great grandson, Easton Chalich; son-in-law, Pete Lang; brothers-in-law, Richard Angus and Robert Bromenshenkel.
A Mass of Resurrection was held for Allen on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Fr. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment was at the church cemetery in Sauk Centre with honorary pallbearers by his grand and great grandchildren. Active bearers were Scott Lyon, Chris Kulzer, Matt and Nicholas Waldvogel, Levi Lawinger, Mitch Holler and Shawn Kulzer.
Arrangements were with the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
