Anthony Faber

Anthony 'Tony' Faber, age 94 of Parkers Prairie, formerly of Osakis went to be with the Lord on September 25, 2014 at the St. Williams Living Center of Parkers Prairie.
Anthony Clemens Faber was born July 31, 1920 to Peter and Emma (Hartman) Faber in Urbank, MN. Tony grew up in the Urbank area with a family of 10 siblings. He enlisted in the Army during WWII from 1942-1945 and served his country in the African Theater. He received the Combat Infantryman Badge by being a tank driver and military policeman. He also received the American Defense Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, and two bronze stars. He returned from the War and farmed with his family until marrying Eleanor Nix on June 3, 1948 in Parkers Prairie, MN. He then became a cement mason building bridges in the Twin Cities retiring in 1979. Upon his retirement he moved to a home on Lake Osakis. Tony was a member of the MN Cement Masoner Union #633. He was a member of the Osakis VFW Post #7902, the Sauk Centre American Legion Post #0067, and the Osakis Sportsman's Club and Knights of Columbus. Tony enjoyed promoting the Osakis VFW, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, dancing, and bird watching.
Tony is survived by his three children: Roseann Faber of St. Paul, John (Ann) Faber of White Bear Lake, and Bill (Jean) Faber of Verndale; 3 grandchildren; Allison (Ed) Luss-Lusis, Matt Faber and Ethan Faber; 2 great grandchildren; Laila and Lilija ; his only surviving sister; Helen Faber of Urbank, MN.; along with many nieces and nephews.
Tony is preceded in death by his wife Eleanor in 1969, 2 infant sons; 6 brothers; Nicholas, Peter, Leo, Ed, Joe, and Alois; 3 sisters; Della Krassas, Anna Faber, and his twin sister Marie Wright; and a special friend, Gladys Kasper.
Inurnment was at the Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights.
