Audrey Urban

Audrey Urban, age 95 of Osakis passed away at her home in Alexandria on Monday, Nov. 6, 2017 with her loved ones by her side.
On April 9, 1922 a baby daughter was born to Robert and Lillian (Anderson) Lofstuen in Hastings, MN. She was named Audrey Lorraine and was one of two girls born to this union. She grew up in Hastings and worked as a young woman at the Emmanuel Hospital in Mankato as a nurse's aide. On Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1945 Audrey married the love of her life, Harold Urban in Winnebago, MN. They lived in Truman/Lewisville for 18 years and Audrey continued doing aide work at the Madelia Hospital and also raised a family of four children. When they moved to a farm in rural Osakis in 1963, Audrey worked as an aide at the Community Memorial Home for a time and then found work as a dental assistant. She worked for over sixteen years with Dr. Jacobsen and Dr. Leckband before retiring. Audrey was active in several groups and belonged to the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Osakis and then St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alexandria. She belonged to the Helping Hands Ladies Group and served as church board secretary at Redeemer for several years. Audrey also volunteered many hours quilting for the church missions. In addition to being a very busy wife and mother, she was also very generous with her time and talents in helping others.
Audrey was a wonderful grandma and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She raised a garden each summer and had beautiful flower beds. She was also an avid reader.
She will live on in the hearts of her children, Judy (Don) Lardy of Buffalo, Diane Peterson of Alexandria, Susan (Tom) Moore and Mike (Gwyn) Urban, all of Osakis; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Salsbery of Alexandria.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Harold who died in 2008, and a great granddaughter, Katie Beran.
Funeral services for Audrey will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Rev. Michael Neumann officiating. Interment is at the Gordon Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Osakis with honorary pallbearers by her six granddaughters, Tami Beran, Traci Heidebrink, Kim Moore, Anne Forde, Katie Otto and Holly Buehre. Active bearers are her six grandsons, Nick and Buck Lardy, Trent Graf, Tom and Tim Moore and Wyatt Urban. A gathering time will begin at the church one hour prior to the service.
