Betty Sayler

Betty L. Sayler, age 89 of rural Villard, passed into her new life early Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018 from the Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria, MN.

Betty was born on June 19, 1929 near Glenwood, MN to Alvin and Blanche (Homey) Moen and was the oldest of their three children.  She grew up on a family farm near Starbuck, MN and later moved onto a farm near Villard, MN.

Betty was baptized in the Starbuck Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church.  She graduated from Villard High School in 1947.  She married Kenneth Sayler on July 17, 1948 in Webster, South Dakota and they were married for 56 years before his passing in 2004.  They were blessed with four children, three boys and a girl.  Betty was devoted to her children and home.  She also worked full time for years.  She started in an electronics plant in New Brighton, MN and later was hired by the Metronic Corp. in Fridley, MN working there for over twenty-three years.

Betty donated many hours quilting for the Osakis Memorial Home, helping to do a quilt each year for their annual Fall Bazaar fundraiser.  She also quilted many beautiful quilts for the Osakis Lutheran Church missions.  After Kenneth’s death, Betty met Wayne Ganske and they found they had many interests in common.  They became very close and were each other’s best company.  They attended lots of area dances and liked to travel around the Midwest on his motorcycle in the summers.  Betty was a kind and talented lady who generously gave of herself to help others.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her four children, Rod (Victoria) Sayler of Pullman, WA, Kent Sayler of Fridley, MN, Bruce (Tami) Sayler of Stacy, MN and Diane (Dan) Perrault of Wyoming, MN; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a step grandson; her loving friend and companion, Wayne Ganske of Villard; siblings, Arlene (Paul) Olson of Nelson, MN; Dennis "Buck" (Myrna) Moen of Alexandria, MN; brother-in-law, James (Barb) Sayler, Northfield, MN and sister-in-law, Ann Sayler, Duluth, MN; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Kenneth Sayler in 2004.

Funeral services for Betty will be held on Saturday, November 24 at 11:00 am at the Villard United Methodist Church in Villard, MN with Rev. Alexander Victor Jones officiating.  Visitation begins at the church on Saturday at 10:00 am.  Interment is at the Grove Lake Cemetery in rural Pope County, MN with honorary pallbearers, Angela Gomez and Quinn Murray and casketbearers, Brian Sayler, Collin Sayler, Jorge Gomez, Adam Sayler, Brandon Sayler, Joed Sayler, Jenna Boettner, Dan Boettner
