Billy Garvin, age 45 of Osakis died unexpectedly at his home in rural Osakis on Tuesday, March 13, 2007.
Billy was born on January 5, 1962 in Alexandria, MN to Alfred and Mae (Whiting) Garvin. He attended Osakis Public School and graduated with the class of 1980. Billy enjoyed country life and continued to work on the farm after school. He raised beef cattle and did custom combining for area farmers. He had enjoyed working with his brother Rick doing field work each year.
Some of Billy's favorite past times included going bowling, deer hunting and snowmobiling. He was also an avid Viking and Gopher football fan. He will be remembered for his happy-go-lucky attitude and his ability to have a good time wherever he was. He loved to socialize and was always able to make others smile. He liked to play practical jokes on people to get their reaction and have a good laugh. He will be dearly missed by his family, neighbors and friends.
Billy is survived by his parents, Alfred and Mae Garvin of Osakis; his grandmother, Hazel Whiting of Alexandria; 3 brothers and 3 sisters, Peggy (Kenneth) Wegleitner of Bertrum, Rodney (Kathy) Garvin of Fergus Falls, Vicki (Bruce) Wunderlich of Bertrum, Ricky (Marcia) Garvin of Osakis, Fay Garvin of Dent, OR and Bruce (Estelle) Garvin of Alexandria, MN; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Hulda and William Garvin and Alan Whiting.
Funeral services were held for Billy on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Bateson officiating. Musicians were organist, Pat Converse and soloist, Myron Larson. Interment was at the West Evergreeen Cemetery in Osakis. Serving as casketbearers were his nephews and niece, Alan Wegleitner, Eric Pohlmann, Ryan Garvin, Jason & Matthew Garvin, Nichole Garvin. Honorary bearers were Dewayne Dietrich, Chopper Sauer, Buzz Boogaard, Stash Boogaard, Bob Massmann, Beags Massmann, Roger Stankey, Mike Massmann and Bruce Massmann.
