Curt Giesler

Curt Giesler, age 57 of Osakis died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at the Community Memorial Home where he was a resident.
Curtis John Giesler was born on December 31, 1952 in Jamestown, N. Dakota to Harold and Fern (Vanderlinden) Giesler. He grew up and attended school in Walnut Grove, MN and then moved with his family to Chandler, MN graduating in 1970 from Chandler High School. He served his country in the US Army Reserves for a time before being injured in a car accident and becoming paralyzed. Curt lived in Chandler with his parents and then moved with them to Osakis in 1981. After Harold, Sr. passed away, Curt moved to the Community Memorial Home and has made that his home ever since. He was very much loved by the residents and staff at CMH and enjoyed visiting with the many people who frequented the nursing home, especially any children who came to visit. Curt liked to play games and work on puzzles, go fishing and was an avid professional sports fan. In his youth, Curt was very active riding in area horse shows and had won many awards for his riding abilities. He loved animals, especially horses and dogs.
Curt is survived by his sister, Della (Mark) Haupert of Lake Wilson, MN, brothers, Harold (Lynette) Giesler, Jr. of Osakis, Duane (Chris) Giesler of Mankato, MN; sisters-in-law, Carol Giesler of Jasper, MN and Sandy Giesler of Osakis; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Myron, Allen and Gary Giesler.
Funeral services will be held for Curt on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis with Rev. Alan Bolte officiating. Interment is at the West Evergreen Cemetery in Osakis, MN. Honorary bearers are his neices Kelli Andersen, Kara Walsh, Lisa Voyd, Heather Peterson, Sherry Wurtz and Carrie Giesler and active bearers are his nephews, Bradley Haupert, Corey, Jeff and Chad Giesler, Mike Giesler and Wade Giesler.
