Life History for Dayni Imdieke
Dayni A. Imdieke, age 42 of Osakis went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at her home in Osakis with her family by her side after a courageous 5 year battle with a rare form of pancreatic cancer.
Dayni began life as courageously as she left it, surviving as an abandoned orphan at the age of three in an orphanage in Seoul, South Korea and adopted by loving parents, Rev. Dan and June (Matz) Abrahams. They brought her home to Appleton, MN when she was 3 A½ years old. She was baptized on June 26, 1977 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Appleton,MN. and affirmed her faith on her confirmation day, April 24, 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fort Morgan, CO. This faith continued to strengthen her throughout her life. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School with the class of 1992. During her high school years, Dayni excelled at swimming and enjoyed being a member of the DL swim team. She attended Concordia College in St. Paul for a year before transferring to Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN. Having a lifelong love for children, including those with special needs, Dayni happily took work as a paraprofessional with the Perham School District. On May 5, 2001, Dayni married Kyle Imdieke in Detroit Lakes, MN. They made their home in Osakis where Dayni opened up a daycare business. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN.
There are many adjectives to describe the gifts and talents Dayni possessed. She was immediately recognized by her winning smile and the natural bursts of laughter such a happy disposition brings. She was devoted to her family and was instinctively protective of them. She loved outdoor activities, such as swimming, golf and fishing, but her favorite sport was being the number one fan at her children's activities. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and reading, but most importantly, spending time with family. Dayni was determined to fight her cancer and never complained about the many treatments, tests and appointments she had to undergo. It was evident how extremely unselfish she was and more concerned for the health and feelings of those she loved. She was a loving, caring and brave woman who left a lasting legacy of love for her family to remember.
Left to mourn her passing is her husband, Kyle Imdieke; her sons, Logan Wolf, Luke and Drew Imdieke, all of Osakis; parents, Rev. Dan & June Abrahams of Detroit Lakes; siblings, Derek (Elizabeth) Abrahams of Fergus Falls, Jeff (Heidi) Abrahams of Omaha, NE; Jessica (Jedd) Hartmann of Rogers; father and mother-in-law, Al & Diane Imdieke and brother and sister-in-law, Keith Imdieke and Lisa (Doug) Lien, all of Osakis; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
