Life History for Delores Winter
On June 12, 1941 a daughter was born to Oswald and Agnes (Neussendorfer) Winter at their home in rural Stearns County, MN. She was named Delores Cecilia and was one of six children. Delores was born with special needs but was welcomed into the family with much love and care. She attended country school in West Union Township and enjoyed life on the family farm. In 1952 she moved with her parents into Osakis and remained there until she entered the REM community in Hoffman, MN. She worked for the Grant County DAC (Developmental Achievement Center) and was dedicated in her work at the shredding station.
Delores loved her family and was thrilled with each new niece and nephew she got to know. Babies were one of her favorite things and she loved to be around them. She also waited anxiously for the holidays and the annual gift exchange when she could share and receive gifts with those she loved. Her free time was spent working on puzzles and watching the birds at their feeders. She looked forward to talking on the telephone and catching up on the family news. She had a flair for color, whether by wearing her fancy scarf and hat sets or just while coloring pictures in her sketch books. Delores was a pure heart who found joy in the everyday pleasures of life. She will be dearly missed by her family and also by her many wonderful caregivers that enhanced her life over the years.
She is survived by her siblings, Carol (David) Heinze of Elrosa, John (Kathleen) Winter of Browerville, Jerome 'Jerry' (Wendie) Winter of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Diane Winter of Osakis; many nieces and nephews.
Waiting to greet her in heaven are her parents, Oswald and Agnes Winter; a brother, Richard Winter; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne & Junior Clark; two nieces, Eve Winter and Lisa Heinze.
Memorials are preferred to the Grant County DAC at 106 7th St N, Hoffman, MN 56339 or her REM home at 103 5th St. N., Hoffman, MN 56339.
