LIFE HISTORY for DENNIS WEISS
Dennis Weiss, age 68 of Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at his home in Alexandria, MN.
Dennis was born on October 31,1938 to William and Agnes (Heber) Weiss in Zell, South Dakota. After high school, Dennis joined the South Dakota National Guards. After completing his service with the Guards, Dennis then attended Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN. He worked as an engineer for Control Data in Minneapolis. After 22 years with Control Data, Dennis then moved to the Alexandria area in 1986 and began working for Alex Extrusion. He was married to Jean Irwin on April 6, 1974.
Dennis had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid fisherman and snowmobiler, who also liked to take long summer walks and work in his garden. He enjoyed watching and cheering for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and was a member of the Douglas County Historical Society. After his retirement, Dennis enjoyed wintering in Florida and going on various trips.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Jean Weiss of Alexandria; his three sons, William (Connie) Weiss of Sturgis, SD, Dennis 'Dean' (Toni) Weiss of Buffalo, MN and Robert Weiss of Sheridan, WY; a son-in-law, Ken Larsen of Whitewood, SD; 5 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter and his sister, Marilyn (John) McKay of Huron, SD.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Darla Larsen in June of this year and a grandson, Brandon Weiss.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2006 at 2:30 pm at St.Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria with Fr. Al Ludwig officiating. Interment is at the Gordon Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Osakis. Pallbearers are Dave Merdan, Jim Irwin, Al O'Donnell, Gary Lund, John McKay and Mike Ruud.
