LIFE HISTORY FOR DEREK
Derek Baker, twenty-one year old son of Scott and Janel Baker of Osakis, MN entered into his new life early Friday morning, October 20, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN.
Derek and his twin sister, Hannah were born November 8, 1995 in Alexandria, MN to Scott and Janel (Lingl) Baker. Complications at birth started Derek on a new journey through life. Under his family's loving care, his amazing personality shined for all to see. Although he didn't speak in words, he was still able to reveal to those around him the love he had inside. He was able to turn any gifts of kindness into moments of grace for those who were blessed to know him. His expressive eyes and contagious smile could warm any heart. He wanted to be a part of everything and was included in all of the family's activities. He enjoyed going on outings, including summer racing nights, horseback riding, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, deer hunting and ice fishing. He loved to be outdoors, whether taking rides on the bike trail or going boating, or even jet-skiing. Derek was entertained by watching sports either in person or on television and enjoyed doing everything with his family. He attended Osakis Public Schools and loved being with the students, teachers and staff. He graduated from OHS with the Class of 2014. He then attended three years at Transition Tech in Alexandria and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Osakis. He will always be remembered for the joy he radiated, the smiles he shared and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Scott and Janel Baker of Osakis; a brother and sister-in-law, Dominic & Stephanie Baker of Rothsay, his twin sister and brother-in-law, Hannah & Branden Sibell of Osakis; two nephews, Sutter and Maverick Baker; paternal grandparents, Dexter & Bernice Baker of Osakis; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Waiting to welcome him to his heavenly home are his maternal grandparents, Pete and Helen Lingl.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held for Derek on Tuesday, October 24 at 11:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Osakis with Fr. Dave Petron.
