Life History for Douglas Byland
Doug Byland, age 56 of Alexandria died on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at his residence.
Dellis Douglas Byland was born on September 5, 1956 in Valley City, North Dakota to Dellis Marvin and Arlene (Jensen) Byland. He grew up in Valley City and then Grafton, North Dakota before moving with his family to Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Blaine High School and went to work as a boiler maker. Doug mastered the welding and rigging techniques and was soon sent on projects all over the state. He was a member of the Boilermaker's Union #647. He had been living in Alexandria for the last several years.
Doug was an avid fisherman who enjoyed being out on the lake. He especially enjoyed ice fishing during the winter months. Snowmobiling was another hobby he enjoyed and each spring he looked forward to growing new plants and tending a garden with his Dad.
Doug is survived by his father, Dellis Byland of Alexandria; sisters, Jacquelyn (Bill) Ulwelling of Elk River, Pamela (Hoyt) Hansen of Blaine, Wanda (Mike Kaupp) Snow of Blaine; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Byland who died March 27, 2010.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Calvert officiating. Following the service, inurnment will be held at the West Evergreen Cemetery in Osakis, MN.
