Emaline Halgrimson

March 5, 1922 — November 21, 2017

Emaline Halgrimson, age 95 of Osakis, formerly of Miltona and Alexandria, entered into her new life early Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, MN.
Emaline Christine was born on March 5, 1922 in Aitkin, MN to Carl and Bethel (Dixon) Christensen. She graduated in 1940 from Aitkin High School and then attended Duluth State College to receive her Elementary Education degree. She met Ellis 'Al' Halgrimson and they were married on May 5, 1943 in Aitkin County. Emaline taught at several locations, including Richmound, MN before settling near Osakis in 1964. She was hired by the Osakis Public Schools and taught remedial math and reading for a couple of years. After their retirement in 1981, the Halgrimson's moved just east of Miltona to a home with acreage. They enjoyed country living and stayed there until 2005 when they sold their home. They lived in Crosby, MN for a time and then Alexandria, MN. After Al's death in 2009, Emaline moved back to live in Osakis, MN.
As a talented and busy wife, mother and teacher, Emaline still found time to give of herself as a volunteer. While in Osakis she was treasurer for the Elim Ladies Aide, taught Religious Education at the United Methodist Church and later did secretarial duties for both the Rose City Ladies and the Golden Age groups. She belonged to the Evangelical Free Church in Rose City, MN.
Well known for her baking and cooking skills, Emaline also enjoyed gardening and canning, sewing and reading. She took yearly camping and fishing trips with her family as they grew and loved to travel and see the countryside. She was a kind and devoted mother and grandma who leaves a legacy of love behind.
She will live on in the hearts of her daughters, Gayle (Larry) Brynjulfson of Osakis and Sue Hagen of Alexandria; 9 grandchildren, Bryan (Beckie) Brynjulfson, Jennifer Beltz, Amy (Phouvady) Sithiphong, Melanie (Jeff) Lindner, Michael Darling, Christine Albrecht, Robert (Frecia) Darling, Danielle (Isaac) Jensen, Chad (Tracy) Hagen; 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren on the way; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Ellis Halgrimson, a daughter, Ramona Darling; a granddaughter, Melissa Hagen; four brothers, Arthur, Rexford, James and Benjamin Christensen.
Memorial services for Emaline will take place Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Rose City Evangelical Free Church with Pastors James Brown and Ralph Erickson officiating. Musicians are soloist, Anna Pastian and organist, Eilene Doble. A luncheon will follow the service. Arrangements are being handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
