Erma H. Ahrens, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on July 21, 1932, in Sauk Centre, MN, she spent her early years on a family farm in Wards Springs, where her strong work ethic began to take shape. Erma graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1951, a milestone that began a life devoted to both her family and her careers.
Throughout her professional journey, Erma was employed by several notable companies including Armour and Company as a meat packer, Viking Pop Company, Coast to Coast Hardware, and Majestic Ballroom. Additionally, she worked with Rock Island Railroad, where she cleaned the sleeping quarters.
Erma found joy in many aspects of life. She was not only an extremely hard worker but also a spirited dancer, with the love of her life Paul, they danced with 2 Polka Lovers Clubs of America, dancing in 49 of the 50 states, missed Hawaii. And several dance cruises. Erma's interests extended beyond dance; she was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she found community and fellowship. In addition, she was involved with the Community Memorial Home Auxiliary, the Orchid Group. Erma's life was enriched by her love for gardening, quilting, traveling, knitting, which sold at craft fairs for many years and sweaters for the dancing clubs. She loved her African Violets having up to 50 plants at one time. Which she donated to the church festivals and raffles or gave away.
On June 10, 1953, she married Paul Ahrens, in Ward Springs, MN. Together, they raised three children: Dennis (Laurie) Ahrens, David Ahrens, and Barbara (Dennis) Behm. Family was at the heart of Erma's world, and her love for her children, 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren was unwavering. She delighted in spending precious moments with her family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Erma was preceded in death by her husband Paul, parents, Anthony and Bertha Voller; her sisters, Clara Pundsack, Alma VonWahlde, and Rita Kalewski, and two brothers, Jerome Voller and Virgil Voller She is survived by her loving children and her brother, John (Joan) Voller, who will continue to carry her legacy of hard work, kindness, and devotion to family.
A visitation will be held in her honor on July 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 316 3rd Ave W, Osakis, MN 56360. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery following the service at church.
Erma H. Ahrens will be remembered not only for her warmth she shared with everyone she met. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.
