Eva Haburn

July 24, 1921 — January 26, 2015

Eva Jane, age 93 of Osakis entered her eternal life on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis surrounded by her family.
On July 24, 1921 a baby girl was born to Allen and Rose (Gilbert) Stanford in Larrabee, Iowa. Eva grew up at Larrabee on the banks of the Little Sioux River. She graduated from Larrabee High School as an honor student. She went to Teachers College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. When she fell in love with her father's hired man, her plans soon changed. She accepted his proposal and was married to Robert Arnold Haburn on November 9, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa. They started their family and were blessed with three sons, Robert (Bob), Phillip (Flipper), and David (Dave). They farmed in Larrabee and Quimby Iowa. In 1957 they moved to Osakis Minnesota, when they bought a farm west of Osakis. They farmed until 1964 and then purchased Landscape Nursery and Floral west of Osakis. They ran the nursery for five years with their son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Lavonne. They sold their farm and purchased a house in Osakis, living there until they sold and moved into apartments. Eva worked at the Community Memorial Home for over 20 years. She loved her family and was a loving, kind and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was very devoted to her family and especially enjoyed following their various sporting events and 4-H activities. She loved to read, garden, cook, and go camping.
Eva was a member, deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Osakis, attended several bible study groups and sang in the church choir. She knew her Savior Lord Jesus Christ. In her later years she was a volunteer grandmother for the Osakis Public School reading to the elementary students. Eva eventually moved to West View Assisted Living and finally the Community Memorial Home where she had spent so many hours caring for others. She was happy to be picked Prom Queen one year. Eva wrote a note which reads: Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped into the next room. Why should I be out of mind, because I am out of sight? I will be waiting for you for an interval, till we meet again in Heaven. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched.
