Ina M. Larson, 90 of Alexandria, formerly of Osakis, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Elim Lutheran Church in Osakis beginning at 11:00 AM. A public visitation will take place from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, as well as one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Elim Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Ina Marlene Larson was born on July 16, 1935, in Todd County to Joseph and Pearla (Pederson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church near Osakis. Ina attended country school at District 29 and graduated from Osakis High School. After graduation, she attended Augsburg College to study organ. After a year, she returned home and began working at Hart Press in Long Prairie, where she was mentored and became a self‑taught accountant. Her notable tiny handwriting developed as she perfected the art of fitting numbers neatly into ledgers. She was always an accountant at heart, happiest when she was crunching numbers or balancing a spreadsheet. Her love for order, precision, and the beauty of a well‑kept ledger stayed with her throughout her life.
On September 17, 1955, Ina was united in marriage to Wayne Larson at Elim Lutheran Church. The couple began their married life in Sauk Centre, MN, while Wayne attended St. Cloud State College to earn a business degree. They later moved to Fergus Falls, where Wayne was called to serve as administrator at Broen Memorial Home while continuing his education at the Lutheran Brethren Bible College. Their only child, Nadene Ina, was born nine years later. Ina worked alongside Wayne as the bookkeeper, and together they developed a passion for ministering not only to the elderly in their care but also to the staff who served with them. Their work was, in every way, a faith‑based ministry.
Ina and Wayne also made beautiful music together and considered it an important part of their ministry. Ina would accompany Wayne on the organ or piano, and she provided music for countless funerals, weddings, and church activities. Their shared music was an offering of love, service, and faith.
Wayne may have held the formal business degree, but Ina stood right beside him, studying and earning her Administrator’s License so she would be ready to step in when needed at Broen. She did so when Wayne’s vision expanded the Lutheran Brethren Homes ministry into Mesa, AZ; Sun City, AZ; and Garland, TX. Ina retired shortly after Wayne in 2001.
In June of that year, they moved to Ina’s beloved century‑owned family farm near Osakis, MN. The farm was her pride and joy. They immersed themselves in the community and became active members of Elim Lutheran Church once again.
Ina dearly loved her family. She treasured her parents, her siblings, and all her nieces and nephews. She was “Mom” to Sadie (Tsedale Belete), who came into their lives and was loved as a daughter. She was “Bonus Grandma” to Peter and Matthew Boisclair. Her grandson, Jonah Wayne, arrived later in her life and instantly became her greatest joy. She cherished every visit and delighted in doting on him whenever she could.
Ina kept a birthday book and took great pleasure in checking it each day to see whom she might call with birthday wishes. She did this so faithfully for so many years that most birthdays were committed to memory.
Ina died on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Woodcrest Assisted Living in Alexandria, MN, at the age of 90, with her daughter Nadene holding her hand as she took her last breath.
She is survived by her daughter Nadene and son‑in‑law Dan Boisclair of Apple Valley, MN; her grandson, Jonah Boisclair; her brother, Joel Johnson of Fergus Falls; her sisters: Elaine (Curt) Kavlie of Fergus Falls, Judy (Tom) Wagner of Olalla, Washington, and Annella Ritter of Mesa, Arizona; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 66 years, Wayne Larson; grandchildren, Noah and Sabrina; brother‑in‑law, Dan Ritter; sister‑in‑law, Shirley Johnson; and her dear Larson brothers‑ and sisters‑in‑law: Orville and Norma Larson, Phil and Irene Klukken, and Loren and Eleanor Larson.
Roy-Hetland Funeral Home is in charge for arrangements for Ina.
