Jean Marie Zimmel

February 19, 1959 — March 27, 2026

Osakis

Jean Zimmel, age 67, was born on February 19, 1959, in Perham, Minnesota. She passed away unexpectedly on March 27 in Glenwood, Minnesota.

Jean was a quiet, kind-hearted woman who asked for little and gave much. She had a strong work ethic and often held multiple jobs at once throughout her life. She volunteered as an EMT for the city of Osakis until her health declined and also coached junior high volleyball. In her free time, she enjoyed painting ceramics, a hobby she continued for many years. Jean made the best of what she was given, leaving the world with more than she took. Above all, her family was the center of her life.

She loved her family deeply and was fiercely protective of them. Jean cherished her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, finding joy in attending their activities and spending time together. She was immensely proud of each of them and delighted in sharing their accomplishments. Her grandchildren adored her and loved to dote on her. She also had a special place in her heart for her children’s pets, especially Tyson, who, in her eyes, could do no wrong.

Jean enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Minnesota fan, especially devoted to the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Johnson, who remained forever in her heart.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Zimmel; her children, Sarah Johnson and Charles Moni, Joshua and Rachel Johnson; her grandchildren, Michael Johnson, Jacksen Moni, Turo Moni, Gray Johnson, Easton Johnson, Otis Johnson, and Mac Johnson; and her great-granddaughter, Skye Moni.

Jean will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her quiet strength, and her unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
