Jeanette J. Weickert, age 91 of Alexandria, passed into her new life on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from her home at the Prairie Senior Cottages in Alexandria, MN.
On February 16, 1928 a baby girl was born to Joseph and Nellie (Westberg) Robben in Bartlett Township, Todd Co, MN. They named her Jeanette and she would be one of two daughters and six sons born to this union. She grew up and attended school, graduating in 1946 from Wadena High School. She went to work at the drug store in Bertha and also helped care for her family. On March 20, 1949 Jeanette married the love of her life, Marlan Weickert at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Bertha, MN. They farmed for many years and Jeanette also worked for the Bertha-Hewitt Public School. After a time working at the Bertha Creamery, Jeanette returned to her job at the school, retiring in 1971. In addition to raising her daughters, Jeanette kept busy gardening, bowling and caregiving. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran for many years. After retirement, the Weickerts moved into a home in Alexandria. Retirement also allowed them time to enjoy traveling the country in their motor home. They joined the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where Jeanette belonged to the LWML women’s group.
