Alpha Kay Anderson passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.
Alpha Kay Schroeder was born on March 11, 1942 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Alfred and Katherine (Falk) Schroeder. She graduated from Audobon High School and then attended Alexandria Technical College for Hotel and Restaurant Management. She married Bill Olson in 1961and they lived in Brooklyn Center. Kay worked for Cargill. Bill died of a heart attack in 1971. On August 19, 1972 Kay married Russell Anderson at Osakis Lutheran Church. They farmed north of Osakis in Leslie Township and Kay also worked at the Finger Hut plant in Alexandria. Kay enjoyed living and working on the farm and even became proficient at running the combine all by herself. In addition, Kay ran a home business selling Home Interior furnishings.
Some of Kay's interests included working in her flower garden, getting outdoors and enjoying nature. She was a hard worker and a loving wife,mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Anderson of Carlos; a son, Randal Anderson of Long Prairie and a daughter, Dorothy (Daniel) Downes of Glenwood; 6 grandchildren; a brother, Tom (Shereen) Schroeder of Texas and two sisters, Patricia (Jim) Chapman of Oregon, Marlene (Arvin) Brandon of Audobon, MN; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Olson and a sister, Carol Willette.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 am at the Osakis Lutheran Church with Rev. Ron Calvert officiating. Interment is at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery near Clotho, MN. Pallbearers are Adam Bock, Jerry Elsner, Freelyn Wenzel, Scott and Carl Anderson and Dan Snyder.
Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
