Lois Kathleen Marie (Johnson) Murray was born on April 23, 1932, in Duluth, Minnesota to Omar and Myrtle (Anderson) Johnson. The family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and Lois was raised there. She graduated from St. Paul Mechanic Arts School in 1950 and moved to Loma Linda, CA to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse at The College of Medical Evangelists. After graduating in 1954, she moved back to St. Paul and spent the next two years as an assistant Nursing Arts instructor at Bethesda Hospital. She married Kermit Hanson on November 10, 1956, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Alexandria, Minnesota. The couple settled down in Osakis and were blessed with two children, David, and MaryEllen. Lois began working at the Community Memorial Home as an RN in 1968 and continued working there after Kermit passed away in 1970, until her retirement in 1995.
On April 23, 1972, Lois married Roy Murray at Osakis Lutheran Church. With this union, Lois gained three stepchildren, Craig, Nancy and Lori. Together the couple worked hard raising strawberries that they would bring to many different places in Osakis. After retirement, Roy and Lois joined the snowbird crowd, wintering in Texas. Lois loved animals, especially dogs, gardening, knitting, and being outside. She was a member of Sons of Norway, The Red Hats, and the Ladies Aid. Lois was an amazing cook and often canned and made jam from the strawberries they grew. She also enjoyed traveling and went to many places such as Russia, England, Europe, and many road trips around the United States, but her favorite vacation spot was where she was born in Duluth.
Lois died on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota at the age of 90.
