Louise Swanson

Louise Swanson, age 100, of Osakis, died on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Galeon Senior Living.  A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church in Osakis.  Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at church.  Interment will be at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Eagle Bend.

Louise Hahn Crider Swanson was born on February 12, 1923, in Bottineau, North Dakota to William Hahn and Minnie Paryyek Hahn

She attended rural school in turtle mountain near Lake Metigoshie, Louise then worked on her family farm until her teenage years when she traveled to Eagle Bend, Minnesota to help her sister.

In 1943, Louise married Marion Crider. The two lived and worked on their farm for almost 30 years before his passing in 1976. Louise then continued to live on the farm for a few years before she was married to Kenneth Swanson at United Methodist Church in Eagle Bend in 1980. The two built a new house on Lake Osakis where they lived and truly experienced life on the lake. Louise and Kenneth loved to fish year-round whether it was on the ice or in the boat. Louise especially loved the many fishing trips to places like Lake Michigan, Lake of the Woods, and the Missouri River.

Louise enjoyed life in the outdoors, fishing, gardening, mowing the grass, smelling the flowers and most of all, spending time with her family. She loved making special gifts for her children and grandchildren as she held each of them so close to her heart.
