Milo Holm

February 4, 1916 — August 27, 2007

Milo was born on February 4, 1916 in Round Lake, MN to Osmund and Bessie (Ausham) Holm. On September 13, 1938 Mike was united in marriage to Helen Hartle in Emmetsburg, Iowa. They farmed near Round Lake and Sioux Valley until moving to a farm near Long Prairie. When Mike retired from farming in 1962, he went to work for Little Sauk Lumber and then the Todd County Highway Department. The Holm's moved into an apartment in Osakis for several years and then finally to the Prairie View Apartments in Long Prairie. Mike had been a resident at the Nursing Home since 2000. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Osakis.
One of Mike's favorite past times was attending area auctions. He loved to buy and sell farm machinery. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Getting together with family and friends for a game of cards was another activity he enjoyed. Mike was a loving father, grandpa and brother who will be dearly missed by those who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
Mike is survived by his children, Ann Maree (Lowell 'Buzz') Hanson of Little Sauk, Sharon (Arnie) Walther of Round Prairie, Anita (Wayne) Bundy of Bovey and Diann (Fred) Johnson of Hastings; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; a sister, Ethel (Duke) Anderson of Worthington, MN.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Helen in 2005; 2 brothers, Donald and Gerald Holm; 6 sisters, Olive Hoover, Florence Rol, Evelyn VonHolt, Leona Holm, Darlene Koning and Fern Reimer.
Funeral services were held for Mike on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Osakis with Rev. Tim Sutton officiating. Musicians were organist, Ellen Bangtson and soloist, Dana Hetland. Interment was at the West Evergreen Cemetery in Osakis, MN. Active casketbearers were his grandsons, Kevin Hanson, Tod & Steve Walther, Bryan and Craig Bundy and Brent Johnson. Honorary casketbearers were his granddaughters, Cindy Ecklund, Lynn Warwas, Shelly Dreher and Kris Smith.
Arrangements were handled by the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis, MN.
