LIFE HISTORY FOR NORM
Arthur Norman Anderson was born January 14, 1927 in Gordon Township, Osakis, Minnesota to Ole L. and Mabel (Edenloff) Anderson. Norman was born at home and weighed in at 12 pounds. He was the youngest of 5 siblings. He was raised on the family farm and attended schools at District 17 in Gordon Twp, Ashley Twp, near Sauk Centre and then graduated from the 8th grade from District 3 in West Union Twp. He was baptized at Sauk Valley Lutheran Church rural Osakis and confirmed at Osakis Lutheran Church.

Norman worked on the family farm and at other farms in the area. He enlisted into the Army in 1945 at the age of 18 and was a rifleman instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1946 receiving the WW2 Victory medal. On June 18, 1950 he was married to Cleo Johnson at Salem Lutheran Church and they began their life together. They were married for over 65 years. They bought the Ed Mindrum farm next door to his parents farm. They continued to live there until his death. They raised 5 children, Cheryle, Patricia, Lacinda (Cindy), Annette and Troy. Norman dairy farmed and shared farm work with his brother Orville, other family and neighbors until in 1968 when he sold the cattle. During this time Norman also served as a constable for West Union Township and worked at Walleye Inn and Supper Club as a bouncer. In 1968 he went to work at 3M in Alexandria as a security guard and after several years rented out the crop land.

Norman belonged to Salem Lutheran Church and held various positions on the council including Council Chairman for many years. He was a long time member of the Todd County Farmers Union, Little Sauk American Legion and the 3M retirees group and loved the relationships formed with his 3M buddies. Norman loved to swim with his kids, play cards with friends, was an avid pheasant hunter and loved to fish. He enjoyed going dancing with Cleo and after he retired they loved to travel with their camper and also attended many Bluegrass Festivals. During this time they traveled to most of the states and because of his warm, outgoing personality they made many friends wherever they went. Norman loved to laugh and always had a joke or story to tell. Norman was a caregiver and was a Todd County Volunteer driver. He liked to tell of driving "old people" who were often much younger than himself. In his last years he and Cleo played hours of Yahtzee and card games.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Pearl (Lester) Schultz, Myrtle (Helge) Herbeck, Ruth (Clifford) Roquette, brother Orville (Myrtle) Anderson and son-in-law Paul Kiesling.
