Life History for Rosalie -
On March 12, 1923 a baby girl was born in Alexandria, MN to Dominic and Stephanie (Deyaeger) Schelfhout. They named her Rosalie Emily and she was one of six children born to this union. When she graduated from Osakis High School in 1941, Rosalie became a dental technician and worked for the local dentist, Dr. Elliot. On August 17, 1953 Rosalie married Ernest Kreemer at the Immaculate Conception Church in Osakis. In addition to raising five children, Rosalie volunteered her time helping at the St. Agnes Parochial School as the school librarian. She made this her vocation, and for over fifty years Rosalie continued to volunteer at the school, including this past year. Rosalie's devotion to St. Agnes School and her parish also included teaching religious education class for many years and she especially enjoyed helping the second graders prepare to make their First Communion. She was a member of the Osakis Christian Mothers, the Daughters of Isabella and the St. Elizabeth Mission group. Over her lifetime, Rosalie also helped by singing in the choir, working funeral and festival dinners and volunteering to do church cleaning and laundry. She was a beautiful example of how to live a life of faithfulness and service to God and her parish. In addition, Rosalie belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and was a Girl Scout leader.
Rosalie loved her home and watching the many birds and squirrels outside her windows. She gardened and canned as long as she was able and always had a batch of homemade goodies to share with anyone who stopped to visit. Watching the Vikings and reading books (many that she previewed for the library) kept her mind active. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched. Blessed be her memory.
She is survived by her children, Anna (Lonnie) Hawkins of Morris, IL, David (Julie) Kreemer of Eden Prairie, James (Renee) Kreemer of Long Prairie and Mary Hinzmann of Alexandria; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Schoener of Roseville, MN.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Ernest in 1995; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Richard Boen and a great grandson, Elijah Boen; brothers, Petrus and Raymond Schelfhout; sisters, Marjorie Schelfhout and Sophie Weber.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held for Rosalie on Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. David Petron officiating. Visitation begins at 10 am. Students and staff from St. Agnes School are Honorary pallbearers. Active bearers are Jason, Michael, Eric and Judy Kreemer, Amanda Harsh and Morgan Hinzmann. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery in Osakis, MN.
