Ruby Alsleben

Ruby Anna Martha Asmus was born on February 13, 1935 in Long Prairie Township, Todd County, MN to Ernest and Emilie (Schmidt) Asmus. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Long Prairie Township. Ruby graduated from Long Prairie High School with the class of 1953 and was married to Milo Alsleben. They made their home in Long Prairie and had three children. Ruby was a talented seamstress and soon had her own sewing business, making any type of clothing her customers requested. She also owned Ruby's Draperies and did custom drapery work. Ruby also had a job working for Quality Cleaners in Long Prairie, and later ran the lunchroom at the Long Prairie Livestock Auction market.
In 1992, Ruby moved to Alexandria and enjoyed being a Senior Companion. She also liked working on puzzles and playing cards. Ruby was a hardworking, kind-hearted mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Dale) Triebenbach of Long Prairie, Chuck (Beth) Alsleben of Alexandria, Sharon (Sheldon) Sievert of Alexandria; 8 grandchildren, Brian Triebenbach, Steph Erickson, Jeff Triebenbach, Keith Alsleben, Jesi Wanless, Jacob Porter, Katie and Caley Sievert; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Ervin 'Pete' (Bev) Asmus of Long Prairie; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, a granddaughter, Emilie Triebenbach Sonnenschein; brothers, Melvin, Vern and Arden Asmus and an infant brother, Ernest Asmus; sisters, Lonora Kuehne and Wilma Schwanke.
Funeral services for Ruby were held on Monday, September 15 at 10:30 am at the Roy-Hetland Funeral Home in Osakis with Pastor Peter Reishus officiating. Interment is at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Long Prairie with casket bearers, Brian Triebenbach, Doug Sonnenschein, Steph and Jesse Erickson, Jeff Triebenbach, Keith Alsleben, Jesi and Troy Wanless, Jacob Porter, Katie and Caley Sievert.
