Ruth Verena Hinnenkamp was born on January 5, 1934, in Sauk Centre, Minnesota the daughter of Jake and Olivia (Otte) Moser. She attended grade school in Sauk Centre and graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1952. In 1952 she worked as a nurses aide at the hospital in Sauk Centre.
Ruth was united in marriage to James “Jim” Hinnenkamp on September 1, 1953, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. To this union eight children were born: Jesse, Lynnee, Lisa, Dale, James, Dean, Mary and Sandra. The family farmed in rural Osakis until 1973 when their barn burnt down. Ruth and Jim then owned and operated the Corral in Nelson from 1973-1978.
In 1978 Ruth worked at several group homes and nursing homes as a CNA until her retirement in 1999. She continued to live on the farm until 2000 when she moved into the Osakis Manor Apartments.
Ruth was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Galeon Auxiliary, Osakis Women’s Association. She also volunteered at the Galeon, West View and St. Agnes School where she was a foster grandma for twenty years.
In her spare time she enjoyed bowling, gardening, canning, traveling, dancing, bingo, playing cards, and baking -- especially bread.
Ruth died on Saturday, December 6, 2025. She is survived by her children: Jesse (Deb) Hinnenkamp, Lynnee Stoner, Lisa (Michael) Colberg, Dale (Susan) Hinnenkamp, James Hinnenkamp, Dean Hinnenkamp, Mary (Mark) Rakotz, Sandra (Roger) Thomas; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; brothers: Lester (Elaine) Moser, Rueben Moser; sister, Cora (Paul) Husmann; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry; sisters: Noreen & Katherine.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Roy Hetland Funeral Home with a Parish Prayer Service at 4:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, December 12, 2025, 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
