Selma Jung

Selma Jung, age 80 of Osakis died early Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.
Selma was born on May 5, 1927 in Gordon Township, Todd County, MN to Singvald and Olga (Sorenson) Pederson. She was one of twelve children raised on the family farm in rural Todd County. On March 3, 1945 Selma was united in marriage to Lester Jung. They first farmed near West Union before moving to a farm east of Osakis in 1948.
Selma was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Osakis.
Selma worked very hard working on the farm and raising her family. When she wasn't busy helping with chores, Selma worked in her vegetable or flower garden. and kept her family supplied with delicious home-cooked dinners and many quarts of canned goods. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed going snowmobiling each winter. Selma was very social and loved to go to area dances. She enjoyed playing bingo and meeting friends for a game of cards. She valued her friends and loved to be on the go. After retiring, she enjoyed traveling to go visit family or take sight-seeing trips. Her greatest pleasure however was in watching her family grow and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a big sports fan, especially when her grandchildren were playing. Selma was a loving and kind mother, grandma and sister who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Selma is survived by her children, Sharon (Roland) Joarnt of Osakis, Kathleen (Pete) Hauer of Conrad, MT and Peter (Carmel) Jung of Clearwater; 10 grandchidlren, 11great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren; three brothers, Myron (Donna) Pederson of Alexandria, Ronald (Janet) Pederson of Oakdale, Richard Pederson of Osakis; 4 sisters, Gladys (Rollin) Erickson of Carlos, Eunice Petersen of Oak park Heights, Anita (Dennis) Niesius of Morris and Sandra (Donald) VanValkenburg of Alexandria; many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Lester on Feb. 2, 1991, a brother, Ordean and a sister, Irene and two infant siblings.
