Life History for Thomas Walsh
Tom Walsh, age 76 of Carlos, passed over into his next life on July 29, 2010 at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis, MN.
Thomas Clare Walsh was one of nine children born to William and Ellen (O'Brien) Walsh. He was born on February 8, 1934 in Armour, South Dakota. Tom was in the U.S. Army and after his service he moved to the Twin Cities. He married Joel Levendoski on August 27, 1960. They made their home in Columbia Heights and then in Fridley before returning to live in rural Carlos in 1978. Tom was a member of St. Nicholas parish in Belle River and served on the parish council.
Besides living in the country and raising sheep, Tom also enjoyed bird watching, especially from his yard feeders, golfing, reading, playing cards (especially Five Hundred) and following politics. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball games and was fond of a generous slice of homemade apple pie. His greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren grow.
Tom is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Joel Walsh of Carlos; children, Greg (Yaddira) Walsh of Minnetrista, Diane (Ralph) Calabria of Cold Spring, Joseph (Laurie) Walsh of St. Paul, Mary (Scott) Soupir of Milroy, Amy Walsh of Osakis; 6 grandchildren; siblings, Jim (Betty) Walsh, Mark (Corrine) Walsh, Genevieve krebs and Katherine Bruzek, all of Alexandria, Robert (Michelle) Walsh of West Lake, OH, John (Darlene) Walsh of Parkers Prairie, Ann (Jim) Determan of Blaine and Rollie (Clara Jayne) Walsh of Osakis; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Resurrection was held for Tom on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Belle River with Fr. Dick McGuire officiating. Interment was at the St. Nicholas Church Cemetery in Belle River, MN.
