William Charles Jarvi Jr was born on July 1, 1951 to William and Sylvia (Sherin) Jarvi in Wilbur, Washington. In 1957, their family moved to Osakis, MN where he was raised with his two siblings.
On November 20, 1971, he married a feisty country girl and the love of his life, Collette Jarvi (Heid). To this union, three children were born: Gidget, William (Bill) III, and Marshall.
Bill attended school in Osakis and later continued his education at Anoka Vocational Technical Institute, where he earned a degree in Building Equipment Maintenance. He spent most of his life working in construction and also founded three businesses: Jarvi Construction, B & C Appliance Repair, and The Cedar Bridge Shop, where his handcrafted bridges were shipped across the United States, even reaching Hawaii.
A true jack of all trades, Bill was a reliable source of knowledge and help for his family and others, especially when it came to construction, home improvement, appliances, and automobiles. He was always willing to lend a hand, a generosity that even led him to participate in a mission trip to Mexico to help build homes. He was kind-hearted, generous, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Bill enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing pool, working on cars—recently beginning the restoration of a 1955 Thunderbird—and woodworking. Above all, he cherished time with his family. He loved joining in games of pool or kickball at family gatherings and made sure the go-karts were always ready for his grandchildren to enjoy.
Following Collette’s passing in 2024, Bill found comfort and companionship in his relationship with Roxanne.
Bill would tell you that the most important moment in his life was when he gave his life to Jesus. While he had always been a devoted father and grandfather, this turning point was reflected in an even deeper sense of thoughtfulness and purpose in his relationships with others.
Bill unexpectedly passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 1st, due to natural causes. We take comfort in knowing he is now at home in heaven, fully in the presence of the Lord.
Preceding him in death is his wife of 52 years, Collette; his parents, Bill and Sylvia; and his sister, Sheryle.
Those of us looking forward to our heavenly reunion with him include his children Gidget (Rick) Sprouls, Bill (Shannon) Jarvi and Marshall Jarvi; his seven grandchildren: Kiera, Alexa, Briena, Dawson, Kaytlin, Jocelyn, Jaden; his great grandsons, Weston and Atticus; his brother Joel; and his companion, Roxanne.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, April 12th at 4pm at New Testament Church in Alexandria, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Floral arrangements are with Anderson Florist.
