Nancy Hill, age 90 of Alexandria, formerly of Columbia Heights, passed away late Thursday, March 17, 2021 at her home in Alexandria, MN.

Nancy Mae VanCamp was born in Minneapolis, MN to Harold W. and Hazel (White) VanCamp on May 20, 1930.  She graduated from Marshall High School in Minneapolis, MN.  Soon after she met a charming young man named Elmer Hill.  They were married on July 11, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN and began a beautiful sixty-nine year journey together as man and wife.  They were blessed with two sons and a daughter, David, Gregory and Cynthia.  After a brief time living in Colorado during Elmer’s military service, they returned to live in Minnesota, settling in Columbia Heights where Elmer worked for the U S Postal Service.  In addition to raising her family, Nancy shared the gift of music with many students by teaching piano lessons.  She would either work out of her own home or accommodate by giving lessons at their home.  With an enormous amount of patience, kindness and gentle instruction, she helped her students blossom.  Nancy was joyful to see them learn and appreciate the beauty of music.  When they retired, the Hill’s moved to a home on Lake Irene near Alexandria, MN and were members of the Alexandria Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.

Nancy had many additional talents and interests, including quilting and making afghans, sewing, dining out and attending card clubs.  She was also happy just being home enjoying the beautiful sunsets or watching some sports, especially golf or baseball on television.

Nancy will live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, Gregory (Elizabeth) Hill of Osakis, Cynthia Hill Lopez of Hugo, MN and a daughter-in-law, Linda Hill of Minneapolis; 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer in September of 2020, a son, David who passed away in 2016; a brother, Harold Robert 'Bob' VanCamp and two sisters, Donna Holton and Phyllis Morrison.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private memorial service will be held.
