Nancy Johanson

Nancy Jane (Maus) Johanson was born January 7, 1946 to Harold and Gloria (Brouns) Maus of rural Osakis. She attended Country School District 17 and Osakis High School, graduating in 1963. After graduating from St Cloud St College in 1967 she worked at the hospital in St Cloud for 3 years. She married Wayne Johanson, her high-school sweetheart on September 12, 1970.

They moved to St Paul where Nancy was employed at Miller Hospital for 3 years. After changing jobs to Imuno Nuclear, a start-up medical research company in Stillwater, the couple built a house and a small hobby farm in rural Stillwater. Here Nancy enjoyed large gardens, crafting, and her animals including a horse, ponies, dogs, cats and rabbits. Upon retirement they moved back to Osakis and built their retirement home in Little Sauk Township. Nancy again enjoyed large gardens, animals, crafting, genealogy, family history, spending time with family and friends and volunteering.

She is preceded in death by father and mother–in-law Gunner and Violet Johanson, mother and father Gloria and Harold Maus, and nephew Kelly Maus. She is survived by husband Wayne Johanson, brothers Richard (Linda) Maus of Gallatin Gateway Montana, Donald (Candy) Maus of Osakis, sisters Betty (Gary) Grinstead of Osakis, and Donna (Ross) Abel of Ham Lake. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Jeremy (Heidi) Maus, Carissa(Eric) Paulson, Jodi (Chris) Striegel, Matthew Maus, Mark Grinstead, Michelle (Jay) Stewart, Teresa (Chad) Wieneke, Tammy (Nathan) Stelling, Scott (Crystal) Maus, Lisa (Jeremy) Heier, Brenda Abel and several great nieces and nephews and her loving dog Scooter.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at St. Alexius Catholic Church in West Union with a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Osakis. Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
